Scottsdale Public Art

Permanent Art

Artists Craig Smith and Dan Collins worked as members of the Scottsdale Stadium design team with architecture firm HOK (Hellmuth, Obata, and Kassabaum, Inc.) to create art for the traditional stadium style red brickwork facility. The nine baseball-themed items featured in the arcade frieze design represent the nine innings in a baseball game. Also included are many smaller decorative elements, such as dri-vit concrete baseball symbols creating abstracted designs, and framed photographs of historical objects taken at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, adding to the viewer's sense of an old-fashioned stadium environment.
