Micrography of Crystals: Photography by Lee Hendrickson

Lee Hendrickson’s enthusiasm for beauty in the smallest crystalline forms comes from his experience as a research scientist and photographer. After growing crystals made from such diverse materials as resveratrol from red wine, citric acid, or acetaminophen on a microscope slide, the intricate beauty of these “molecular landscapes” is magnified and captured using a high-resolution digital imaging microscope. The photograph’s rainbow of colors is a naturally occurring result of light refracting through the crystals.
