Nancy Wanek was dazzled by a visit to several slot canyons near Page, Arizona. The colors and textures of the canyon walls were spectacular. She looked at many, many photos from her trip, pondering how to put the images into a weaving. She let the yarn itself lead the way—purposely interrupting the usual horizontal lines of weaving—with singles, plied or twisted, and even unspun fibers generating random patterns.
