SRP has been delivering and developing the Valley’s water supply for over 100 years. One year after the passing of the National Reclamation Act of 1902, the Salt River Valley Water Users’ Association was formed. Construction on Roosevelt Dam began soon after and was completed in 1911. Roosevelt Dam has been storing water and generating power to sustain the greater Phoenix metropolitan area ever since.

Today, the runoff from rain and snow that falls on the Salt and Verde watersheds flows down creeks and rivers to collect in the lakes and reservoirs behind our dams. The water collected then travels through 131 miles of SRP’s canal system before being delivered to farmers, homeowners and partnering municipal water treatment plants.
