Anna Skibska

Golden Alchemy

Anna Skibska created an assembly of 90 delicate glass orbs. Golden Alchemy, graces the reading room of the Appaloosa Library, bringing the colors and movement of the desert environment inside. Skibska’s collection of amber-colored glass glimmers in the natural and ambient light of the library space, dramatically reenacting the everyday experience of sunlight filtering through desert air on a grand scale. Nestled among this cluster of golden spheres, two orbs of different colors remind the viewer of the context of this natural spectacle. A green and a blue orb draw attention to the elements of sky and growth in the surrounding desert area.

Anna Skibska lives in Seattle, Washington.  She was educated at the Academy of Art in Wroclaw, Poland.  She has 20 years of exhibition experience and 13 years of teaching. She has received several awards including 3 merit awards in New Glass Review, Corning Museum of Glass. Her public installations include the Swedish Hospital Center, Seattle, Washington, Gateway Center, Bank of America, Charlotte, North Carolina, Northwest Airlines, Chicago, Illinois and PONCHO, Seattle, Washington.
