PETER BUGG
#Selfie-Centered
Tempe artist Peter Bugg’s #Selfie-Centered, a series of 4 life-size vinyl photo sculptures of local personalities, creates the illusion of real people taking selfies and posing with you as you take your own.
The sculptures respond to the increasing popularity of taking photographs of oneself, or selfies, usually with a smart phone. In the age where most people have an internet capable camera with them at all times, self-portrait photo creation and sharing has become so common that in November of 2013, the word selfie was named the word of the year for 2013 by Oxford Dictionaries.
The local personalities featured are:
- Robert Sentinery: Editor and Publisher of Java Magazine
- Tania Katan: Curator of Shenanigans at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Public Speaker, Emcee, Writer
- Caitlin Turner aka Gypset Goddess: Yogi
- Oscar De Las Salas: Fashionista & Stylist
Scottsdale Quarter is funding this new temporary project which will be installed in the central outdoor public area of the mall known as The Quad.
