Mary Neubauer

Solid Waste Recycle Bin Project

Scottsdale Public Art is partnering with Scottsdale Solid Waste Services to produce eight artist-designed recycle/trash bins for Old Town Scottsdale. The bins will be located on the south side of the Arizona Canal along the Scottsdale Waterfront area. Made from decommissioned bins, they will feature the creativity of artist Mary Neubauer, who won a design competition during Canal Convergence 2018.

The Scottsdale Waterfront—between Goldwater Boulevard and Scottsdale Road—hosts multiple events each year, including Canal Convergence. Scottsdale Public Art and Scottsdale Solid Waste have a goal of making Canal Convergence a zero-waste event. By adding the permanent bins to the canal waterfront, it will bring the event one step closer to this goal and encourage recycling on the waterfront year-round.

Neubauer is finalizing her designs, and the bins will be fabricated this fall with plans to install them by Canal Convergence 2020.
