About the Event
Join us for a free reception at the Civic Center Public Gallery to celebrate the opening of Maps—Contours of a Story, a juried exhibition of artist maps that illustrate moments, ideas, and stories. Meet the artists and curators while enjoying light refreshments.
About the Exhibition
Artist maps are imaginative representations of a location, moment in time, or idea, that engage us on an emotional and intellectual level. They can be mystical, directional, and obscure. With Maps—Contours of a Story, explore hidden meanings and visual stories from a selection of artists, juried and curated by Saskia Jorda, an interdisciplinary artist working on drawings, fiber-based sculpture, and site-specific installations. Jorda is a Phoenix-based fiber artist and teacher, who recently exhibited in the Women to Watch exhibition series New Worlds at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC.
