Scottsdale Public Art has awarded Erika Lynne Hanson with the latest Scottsdale Creates artist residency at the Noriega Stable Livery space in downtown Scottsdale, December 17 – May 17, 2018. . Hanson is currently an Assistant Professor of Fibers and Socially Engaged Practices at Arizona State University.

Hanson’s residency will engage artists, art and community. With a focus on textiles and the landscape, workshops exploring plant based dyes, crochet and stitching will serve as a meaningful point of discussion regarding community, art, collaboration and history.

The artist will use the Noriega Stable Livery space for art development and public participation in exhibitions, workshops, Thursday night open studios and other community events.

February 2018:

Friday 2/2 – 11AM-1PM – Beginning crochet meet – up hosted by Fiber Art Network of ASU

Saturday 2/3 – 1-5PM – Embroidery Workshop with Shannon Ludington

Sunday 2/4 – 1-3PM – natural dye workshop: using waste: onion skin, coffee grounds

Thursday 2/15 – 7-9 PM – OPEN Studio and Flag Workshops

Sunday 2/18 – 1-3PM – natural dye workshop: using pests: cochineal

Friday 2/23 – 1-5PM – Embroidery Workshop with Shannon Ludington

Friday 3/2 – 11AM-1PM – Beginning crochet meet – up hosted by Fiber Art Network of ASU
