Susan Allred elevates humble materials in form and meaning, creating artwork from fibers. Allred’s art practice requires her to slow down, to be calm, to understand how the material can be coaxed to create the form she wants. She believes this quietness is expressed in the work and that it will provide respite and release for viewers. The artist is currently a member of Eyelounge, an artist-run gallery in Phoenix.
