Nathaniel Lewis is Scottsdale Public Art’s current artist-in-residence, in our Livery Studio space during Spring 2016. Lewis will be creating his quirky, uniquely humorous artworks, sculptures and characters, and holding 3rd Thursday evening open studio events in March and April. His residency will be spent preparing for his upcoming summer installation at the Gallery@The Library, Scottsdale Civic Center, which will open May 23, called, The Catacombs of Professor McGee.
Lewis’s installation, The Catacombs of Professor McGee will transform the Gallery@The Library into a land of wonder and discovery. Investigate the professor’s home. Search the study, but be careful, you never know what you might find or what might find you! Experiment in the laboratory and go deeper if you dare. Beware, if you should find your way into the catacombs you may never want to leave! Nathaniel Lewis will create a detailed world in which children of all ages are offered the title of explorer, with his special brand of characters and mystery.
Lewis will be working in the Livery Studio, generally Friday, Saturday and Sundays from January 15 – June 25. For more about Nathaniel, go to his website, at www.nathaniellewis.org.
