Scottsdale Public Art is pleased to announce artist Lauren Strohacker Artist-at-Work for the Creative Residency at the Shipp Indian School Space, April 15 – May 31, 2017.

Coyote Anthropophony is a project that combines sound, video, projection and education about coyote history, behavior, safety, and urban cohabitation strategies. Strohacker will collaborate with urbanSTEW, a Phoenix-based art and technology collective dedicated to inspiring and expanding the relevance of digital arts in the community.

Strohacker is a Scottsdale resident, with a MFA in Drawing from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, Arizona State University. Her work has been exhibited at the Phoenix Art Museum, The Arizona Biennal, and the traveling exhibition, “Biodiversity/Extinction”. Her collaborative project Animal Land presented its largest public installation to date at the University of California Los Angeles in conjunction with the Earth Now: Earth 2050 symposium (2016) and the launch of UCLA’s Laboratory for Environmental Narrative Strategies (LENS).

Strohacker is a two-time recipient of the IN FLUX grant from Scottsdale Public Art (2013, 2014), and was awarded the Contemporary Forum Emerging Artist Grant (2014) by the Phoenix Art Museum and the Artist Research & Development Grant (2015) by the Arizona Commission on the Arts.

Throughout her residency, Strohacker will be working at the Shipp Indian School Space on most Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 – 7:00 p.m. So stop and say hello! She will also be giving demonstrations, artist talks, and other special events that are free and open to the public.
